Brooklyn Town Hall this Sunday

Yesterday Emma Davis posted on MAYDAYPAC Facebook Group that she created a Town Hall in Brooklyn with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries for Sunday, July 19, 2:00 pm, at 1002 Brighton Beach Avenue, Brooklyn, and indicated that 7 people are going.

For more than a month I have been urging that the enthusiasm and momentum for the Bernie Sanders candidacy offers great potential for advancing the campaign finance reform movement.

I am approaching Sanders local groups to try to push this. See Proposed messaging re: Congress.

For whatever reason, MAYDAY declines to say whether synergy with Bernie is a good idea or not. See Can I get any help from MAYDAY?.

I don't understand what MAYDAY's problem is here, but synergy with Bernie still seems like a good idea to me.

I call to Emma's attention that there is Brooklyn For Bernie Sanders group, and suggest she might solicit involvement by them in the Brooklyn Town Hall meeting on Sunday.

EDIT: This morning Lawrence Lessig published Why No One Will Reform Washington. In the article, Prof. Lessig qualifies his enthusiasm for Sanders because Sanders, in his announcement, endorsed reform “in the long run.” Heck, isn't "synergy with Bernie" an opportunity for Prof. Lessig's hundreds of thousands of followers, and MAYDAY's followers, to engage with energized Bernie supporters about why reform must be now? Again, I don't understand MAYDAY's standoffishness about synergy with Bernie.
